Stampin’ UP! Love Cats and Painted Labels 

It's the second  Monday of January and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew.  We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. A person has to love cats to love the stamp set Love Cats. And I do…love cats!  This is such a fun set and it’s one of those sets that I couldn’t stop making projects from.  

This first card was stamped on Designer Series Paper.  The heart was stamped in Flirty Flamingo first.  Then the cat was positioned using my Stamparatus. The Real Red heart was stamped on white card stock, cut out and added using a Dimensional. 
The second card was created using VERY APPROPRIATE retired (unfortunately) Designer Series Paper.  The Designer Series Paper  shows yarn balls and the contorted cat on this card fit perfectly inside a ball of yarn!

Stampin’ UP! Stamparatus

 Happy New Year!  It's the first Monday of 2023 and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew.  We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. This week we're featuring the  stamp set Go To Greetings. You have likely come from Debra Burgin’s blog on your way through this amazing hop. Here’s a great project to start the New Year!  Something simple and flexible - adaptable - to four different occasions and unlimited Designer Series Paper combinations (I used a retired pattern).  I selected a Thank You sentiment because this time of year we all need to thank someone for something.  But this set also has Happy Birthday, Thinking Of You, and Just A Note.   These are gender neutral.  And the best part is you’ll use only one color and Basic White!  

The key to the success of this design is the Stamparatus.  It makes the left side of this design super easy!  The second part to this success is the lighter shades of Regals, Brights, Subtles, Neutrals, and In Color Designer Series Paper Collections.  But just about any Designer Series Paper will work that is light and a simple or subtle design.

The card can be stepped up using a mat for the Designer Series Paper and sentiment like I did.  Or you can simply use the Designer Series Paper  and sentiment.  You could leave the corners plain or use the Very Best Trio punch on all the corners to jazz it up.  There are so many ways to vary the look of this card.

So pick a sentiment, pick a Designer Series Paper, pick a color and make cards!

If I had it to do over, I would have done the sentiment in white embossing.  Although the copper embossing doesn’t show up in the pic, it’s striking in person.  It’s stamped on some retired Old Olive foil.  

This technique is very easy to do and really gives the illusion of a freeform watercolor.  I used vellum with the embossing folder that is included in the bundle

Stampin’ Up! Brightest Beauty and Merriest Moments Stamp Sets

Yesterday I had my last class for Christmas Cards.  For this card I decided to take a set that was intended for fall and use colors and embellishments to reflect the upcoming Holidays.  Many stamp sets can be used creatively for other than their intended purpose if you just think out of the box.  The Brightest Beauty stamp set is a great example.  I just pulled the sentiment from the Merriest Moments stamp set (one of my favorite bundles) and voilà - a Christmas card!  I hope you like it.

• I started by matting a piece of Very Vanilla card stock on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock
• I stamped the image twice - once on the Very Vanilla card face and again on a separate piece of Very Vanilla card stock - using Old Olive and Real Red ink.  Don’t you L-O-V-E the detailed feathery look of the stamped leaves in this set?  The pic doesn’t do it justice.
• Die cut the second image using the coordinating Golden Beauty die set.  Attach it to the card face offset from the stamped image using Dimensionals 
• Stamp the sentiment on Very Vanilla card stock using Cherry Cobbler ink and die cut it using the label die from the  Golden Beauty die set.
• Die cut another label from Gold Foil Specialty Paper.  Cut it in half horizontally and attach it to the sentiment label letting the gold foil show on the top and bottom of the label.  Attach it using Dimensionals. 
• Make a bow from the Gold & Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon and attach it with a Glue Dot.  (I didn’t have this ribbon so I used some retired ribbon)

It's the fifth Monday of October and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew Bonus Hop.  We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. I hate to repeat myself from my October 25th post, but I’ve always had this thing for wreaths.  A wreath can accommodate every season with the right decorations and color choices. Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, winter, spring, Easter, summer, Memorial Day, 4th of July - they can all be covered with a wreath and the right accessories.  I have bought every stamp set Stampin’ Up! has offered over the years that focus on that circle of leaves called wreaths  So why should this set be any different.  I did, however decide to make it more modern than in past posts.  Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

• Starting from the background, I have several packs of the Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper called Silver & Gold.  It’s such a versatile neutral color and pattern.  And who doesn’t like Silver & Gold?  I took a 3” x 5 1/4” piece of the silver dots paper and ran it through the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder.  I cut the sheet vertically in half.  A 1” x 5 1/4” strip of the silver stripe paper separates the two Silver dot paper.
• Whisper White card stock looked more like Very Vanilla against the stark white of the Designer Series Paper.  So I took another piece of the Silver & Gold Designer Series Paper and used the back side for the wreath background and the sentiment.  
• The wreath itself is cut from Silver Foil Specialty Paper.  The bow is White Glimmer Paper.
• The sentiment is stamped in Silver Embossing Powder.  It’s from the Brightest Glow stamp set.
• I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Very Best Trio Punch.  Cut your sentiment card stock in two sizes - one in white and one in black 1/8” longer and wider than the sentiment and you end up with the perfect mat for the sentiment.  This is definitely a punch you’ll want to add to you stash.  
• The accents are Basic Rhinestones.

With the Holidays just around the corner, my thoughts go back to the family and friends I left behind when I moved to Southern California back in 1984.  It seems like a lifetime since then. And in fact I’ve lived longer in California than I did in Michigan. So I felt this sentiment was perfect for a card that takes me back to Maple trees and apple cider.

• The card front was created using Gingham Cottage and Cherry Cobbler card stock.
• The sentiment was stamped using Early Espresso ink.
• The stems and seeds were also inked in Soft Suede.
• the leaf was inked in Pumpkin Pie and accented using Real Red ink using a Sponge Dauber directly to the stamp before I stamped it on to Very Vanilla card stock.

Stamp Review Crew - Leaves of Holly

Stampin’ Up! Silver Foil

I tried to create a modern twist on a very traditional image.  I couldn't think of a more modern material than chrome, so the Silver Foil Designer Series Paper fit the bill perfectly with three different types of "chrome" colors.  It was difficult to capture the three different types of silver foil in the pic so you'll have to use your imagination.  but suffice it to say the card gleems!

1. I started out by matting the pinstripe background Sun Prints Designer Series Paper with Night of Navy card stock.  
2. The individual holly leaves in the top left corner and the sentiment frame were cut from the matte silver card stock.
3. The berry outline is from the mirror silver.
4. The background for the berries, leaves, and leaves in the sentiment frame are cut from the dark brushed silver.
5. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy on Basic White card stock

Everything used to create this card is from the Leaves of Holly stamp set and the Holly Berry die set.

I have to share with you four different stamped images of the holly leaf.  These images are absolutely awesome and the ink and cardstock, as well as the embossing powder, REALLY give you some very exciting images.

Starting from the left (Click on the image to enlarge): 

• Evening Evergreen card stock, Gold embossing powder
• Old Olive card stock, Evening Evergreen ink
• Basic White card stock, Evening Evergreen ink
• Basic White card stock, Old Olive ink, Evening Evergreen, Clear Embossing Powder.  

The Clear embossing powder needs to be added immediately after stamping the Evening Evergreen.  It gives a glossy textured effect that's gorgeous.

Stampin’ Up! Celebrate Sunflowers and Ring Of Love Designer Series Paper 

This was one of my September card class projects.  I thought the trees from the Rinds of Love Designer Series Paper   resembled sunflower stalks so I thought “what the heck”!  The monochromatic background really makes the sunflowers pop! This was so easy to do with Stampin’ Blends.  The Rings of Love Designer Series Paper was from the July-August Sale-a-bration catalog.
