Stampin' UP! Under The Mistletoe DSP and
Sparkle Glimmer Paper
It's the third Monday of September and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew Hop. We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. This week we're featuring the Country Home photopolymer stamp set. You have likely come from Dawn Tidd on your way through this amazing hop. If you get lost, simply click on the banner for a list of participants and get back on track.
You know, sometimes I'm really inspired by a stamp set, and sometimes I'm not. Sometimes I can look at a stamp set and BAM! I have tons of ideas. And sometimes I can look at a stamp set. And look. And look...nothing! Thank goodness this time I was really inspired. In fact, so much so that I made five cards. But I don't want to steal the spotlight from my Hop Mates, so I'll post a selection of two today and the rest over the next few week or so.
Because I wanted to create a fall/Thanksgiving card (which is clearly what this stamp set is intended for) and a Holiday card, the color palette is pretty large. So I'll post the color palette with each individual card. Here we go...
Step by Step:
This card is super simple with just a few supplies, but I think it really packs a punch.. Sometimes less really is more. My inspiration for this card was the DSP pictured at right. It’s from the Nature’s Poem DSP found in the 2018-19 Annual Catalog. I thought it was ironic that the sentiment says "Simply thankful..." It really is!
- I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Crumb Cake card stock scored at 4 1/4". I stamped the two images in Soft Suede.
- Then I grabbed my AquaPainter and, without adding any additional ink to the tip, I sparingly added water to blend the existing ink from the stamped image.
- Then I took Early Espresso and transferred some ink from the pad to the inside cover of the case by pressing on the bottom of the case while the pad was closed. Then I mixed a small amount of water from the AquaPainter with the ink in the lid and lightly touched the cotton bolls and berries for some contrast.
- The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede. Then I again used my AquaPainter to lightly spread some of that ink around to create a slight shadow. Really Simple!
This card is the exact opposite of less. In fact it's more more. I used to tease my friend Ann Schach by saying she used every product she had on every card she created. And somehow they always turn out gorgeous!
- I started by matting a 3/3/4" x 5" piece of Under The Mistletoe DSP and a 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece of Soft Sea Foam on Real Red Card Stock.
- Then using StazOn Jet Black Ink, I stamped the milk can and the flowers on the Soft Sea Foam to position the focal point.
- Then I loaded the milk can stamp with StazOn Jet Black Ink and stamped it on a piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper. Set it aside to completely dry.
- Stamp the flowers on a second piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock. Using Old Olive Stampin' Blends color the ivy leaves. Using Real Red Stampin' Blends color the ribbon apple. Using Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, color the artichoke. Fussy cut this piece out omitting the cat tails, berries, and small leaves.
- Color the berries using Real Red Blends. Color the small leaves using either a Shaded Spruce Stampin' Write marker, or an AquaPainter and Shaded Spruce ink. Color the cat tails using the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
- Fussy cut the milk can out and color the band using Real Red Stampin' Blends. Glue it to the card face using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Attach Mini Dimensionals to the back of the leaves you cut out and place them over the stamped image on the card front.
- Stamp the small tag on Soft Sea Foam using Real Red Classic Ink. Stamp LOVE in the center of the tag using Real Red Classic Ink. Fussy cut it out and attach it to the front of the milk can using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Attach the Soft Sea Foam component to the card face using Dimensionals. Lots of steps but still Simple!
