It's the first Monday of July and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew Hop. We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. This week we're featuring the Tropical Chic stamp set from the Tropical Escape Suite of products. You have likely come from Heidi Baks on your way through this amazing hop. If you get lost, simply click on the banner for a list of participants and get back on track.
I have waited for a set like this for a long time. Specifically for the silhouette frame that appears in the center of my project for today. Something else I’ve waited for was the Subtle 3D Dynamic Textured Imbossing Folder. For those of you who have been using Stampin’ UP! products for a while you might remember the Textured 12x12 Card Stock we use to offer. Way back in ???? I attended a meeting with my upline Mary Fish and a special visitor. Her name is Shelli Gardner. You may have heard of her! She asked the meeting participants what we would like to see Stampin’ Up! offer. I said I’d like to see an embossing folder that resembled the textured card stock we offered. FINALLY! Click on the image to see the gorgeous detail!
You’ve heard me say that inspiration is everywhere. Here is a perfect example. I designed the background of today’s project from this shirt! Enjoy!
Step by Step Tips:
- I started by stamping the palm leaf on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock using Coastal Cabana. Create an even pattern leaving space for the second element.
- Stamp the starburst from the Colorful Seasons stamp set using Smoky Slate Classic Ink. This is actually a very Mid Century Modern image. I didn't realize it until I used it in this project!
- Using the Basic Black Stampin' Write marker. add some black accents randomly on the leaves.
- Slightly moisten the back side of the Whisper White card stock with a Stampin' Spritzer and run it through the Big Shot. Moistening the back insures your stamped images won’t run.
- Mat this on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Basic Black card stock.
- Cut the palm leaf silhouette out of Basic Black card stock and then frame cut that out using one of the squares from the Layering Squares Framelits dies. Attach it to the face of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Stamp the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Coastal Cabana card stock and mount it on the card face using Stampin' Dimensionals. Simple!
Next stop on the hop is Ann Schach where
she'll wow you with her beautiful design skills.
How fun! I love the background inspired by the shirt! And how great you had a hand in our new favorite embossing folder - thank you!

Thank you Mike. I have ordered this set and am waiting for it to arrive. I think I love the dies most of all.
90 degrees here in the Golden Horseshoe (Niagara Falls, Ontario). Not venturing outside. Think I'll be lazy. It's our July 1st Canada Day. And will watch the fireworks from our deck.
Happy July 4th to you and yours. And to your wonderful followers.

Cool! So many great things in this post - inspiration, the folder story, that burst (mid-century, yes!) and of course the card. Thanks once again for great ideas :)
