It's the fifth Monday of April and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew Bonus Hop. We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. This week we're featuring the Truly Tailored suite of products. You have likely come from Yapha Mason on your way through this amazing hop. If you get lost, simply click on the banner for a list of participants and get back on track.
Last Saturday I had my monthly card class and guess which stamp set I featured? You guessed it - Truly Tailored! So I had to share the projects we competed. This is such a fun set to play with. Og course the Designer Series Paper doesn't hurt either. And I even pulled another punch into it! So fun!
Step by Step Tips:
- The hardest thing to do on this card was the fox, only because of the small pieces like the ears and nose. I can't tell you how many of those I lost in the initial process! I found the BEST way to place them was a little spit! LOL, yes. I said it. You know that miraculous fluid that your mom used on you as a child to clean your face? Well it also works to pick up and place these small parts. It beats the heck out of tweezers. I have much better control over my fingers than I do some foreign metal object!
- A sponge dauber is the perfect tool to add the edge to the body parts using Early Espresso.
Step by Step Tips:
- Don't you love the Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder? I just love the texture. But of course everyone knows that a fine mist applied to the paper before embossing by a Stampin' Spritzer is the best thing to really make it pop.
- I've worn glasses all my live. So to me "Looking Sharp" really doesn't include glasses. However SUN glasses is so Hollywood. So out came the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. Voila! Instant Sharp!
Step by Step Tips:
- This was a super easy card to make. The Crushed Curry banner mat was created using the triple Banner punch. It's 3/4" wide and the smallest banner on this punch is 1" So I turned the punch over and eyeball centered the strip of paper to punch it The same thing was done for the Night of Navy 1/2" center banner.
- The sentiment was stamped using Night of Navy. The Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide mats were created by simply cutting the punched shape in half. I started but stamping and punching out the sentiment. Thin I placed a VERY small bead of glue along the top underside edge of the sentiment shape and placed it on the Tranquil Tide half shape. Repeat for the bottom half and the Night of Navy halved shape. Pop it up with Dimensionals.
Step by Step Tips:
- This is my favorite card! Again, so simple. I started with a punched out Tailored Tag punch in Basic Black. Make sure you use your Stampin' Buddy to make sure no stray embossing powder clings where you don't want it. I stamped the tie with VersaMark and then used our retired Red Glitter Embossing Powder. It had to match the banner/cummerbund and who says Red Glitter is only for Christmas and Valentine's Day?
- Next I stamped the shirt front in Versamark and used White embossing powder.
- Glue on the Red Glimmer 3/4" banner created the same way as in the above project) and pop up the sentiment using Dimensionals!
- The sentiment is in Black embossing powder - back in the 2018-19 Annual Catalog. Simple!
Next stop on the hop is Dawn Tidd where
she'll wow you with her beautiful design skills.
Oh my gosh, Mike! Just when I thought nothing could top the fox card, you hit me with a red glimmer paper tux card! You rocked this set for sure!

Wow Mike!!! These are all fabulous. I love the cute fox and houndstooth combo. All of the blue embossed backgrounds are wonderful. And how did I miss that the "arrow" stamp is actually a shirt! What an awesome fancy tuxedo!
