Stampin' UP! Annual Catalog
It's the third Monday of the month and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew. We are a group of Stampin' UP! demonstrators sharing a ton of ideas focused on a single stamp set. This week we're featuring the Beautiful You stamp set. You have likely come from Natalie Lapakko on your way through this amazing hop. If you get lost, simply click on the banner for a list of participants and get back on track.
Back in April I was fortunate enough to travel to Paris with Rick for two weeks. He was on a job assignment - and I was not! We stayed at the Hilton Paris La Defense. This was a beautiful hotel with a great location. If you take a quick look at the link I've provided, you'll see where I got the inspiration for today's cards. Inspiration is everywhere - especially in Paris! Stay tuned. I have several more cards I'll be posting- even a Holiday card - from this "Beautiful" set.
Step by Step:
- I've fallen in love with Beautiful You! When I first saw this set i was unimpressed because it seemed like it had a very limited use. So a few days ago I decided to play. And then the creativity began to flow when I saw the art at the Paris La Defense. The trick is to chose a medium colored background paper. This way both the Memento Black ink and Chalk Marker both show up.
- There is really not much in the way of instruction for this simple but beautiful card. After you've stamped the image in Memento Black ink, release you artistic side and accent the dress, hat, and umbrella to make them pop. Try to be as light as you can with the Chalk Marker and keep the marker strokes free. This is one time when you don't need to stay in the lines!
- For the sentiment on the Live, Laugh, and Love card, I stamped it first in Memento Black, and then offset stamped it again with VersaMark. It created the shadow effect! Simple!
Next stop on the hop is Mickey Roberts where
she'll wow you with her beautiful design skills.
Mike, these cards are fabulous! So glad you made the trip to Paris for the inspiration. Now I need to dust off my chalk marker...

Mike long time no write. I've been taking a break from blogs and writing comments. It's almost like keeping a second job! However, I still browse daily if possible and stop and when it strikes me like Wow! Your card today is so deserving of a comment. You really made these come to life. Love the simple black/white brown/white effects. WOW!
Hugs.

Love these. I love using white on crumb cake or kraft but it has been awhile. I think I did a snowflake that way a year or two ago. Fancy hotel - I was in Paris a zillion years ago but my room was tiny and shared a bathroom with the others on the floor! Whatever, it was a trip of a lifetime.
