Stampin' UP! Halloween Scares
It's Thursday, and that means it's time for the Pals Paper Arts weekly challenge. This week it's a color challenge by pal Rae Harper. I sure hope you play along with us. Challenges are a great way to push you out of your comfort zone and encourage you to use designs or colors you would normally not use. And this challenge is no exception! I wanted to go into the kitchen and cook something! I rarely use Cajun Craze, but I found it fun once I actually decided what I was going to do. But then, isn't that always the way!
I have had a bit of a challenge this past week. I tangled with the lid of a soup can and lost. The doctor kept saying "you really did a good job!" I told her that if anything was worth doing it was worth doing well! LOL! Nine stitches and one tetanus shot later I was back home and trying to decide how to do the majority of things I did with my right hand but only using three fingers! It's not easy!! But, here's what I did anyway. The best part of this card is I only used I stamp set to create it! I hope you enjoy!
Step by Step Tips:
- I started by mounting a 4" x 5.25" piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock on a 4.125" x 5.375" piece of Cajun Craze card stock. The Elegant Eggplant background was randomly stamped with the large bats stamp using Memento ink.
- The cat and the tree were stamped directly onto a piece of retired Elegant Eggplant Designer Series Paper using Memento ink and matted with Cajun Craze card stock.
- The house, moon, and sentiment were stamped on Crushed Curry card stock. I used the dots stamp with Cajun Craze ink to give the sentiment a little pizzazz. I hand trimmed the banner and the mat to fit.
- The house was fussy cut using my Paper Snips. The moon was punched out using the 1 1/4" paper punch and matted using a piece of Cajun Craze and the 1 3/8" paper punch.
- The moon and tree elements were attached directly to the card front using snail adhesive. The cat was mounted on the corner of the house element, and that element was then popped up using Dimensionals. The sentiment was also attached using Dimensionals. Simple!
Wow, Mike, this is a fabulous spooky card! Brilliant idea to stamp the bats in black on the elegant eggplant panel! Great job! So glad you shared your card with us this week at Pals Paper Arts!

Mike, you created such a fun 'spooky' card I simply love it! Plus, hearing that you only used three fingers? Wow, that's a huge feat! I hope you heal quickly and get to using all your fingers again. Thank you for joining in on this week's challenge!

Yo, Mike! It's the little things in life that can be a worry... no more soup!! Seriously, take care of the right hand! Otherwise I see the accident did not affect your creativity level. Love how you showcased this stamp set, from the bats on the background paper to the images on the designer paper. Thanks for playing along with the PPA color challenge this week. :)

Sorry about your hand Mike. This is a great card. I especially like the DSP you used. It gives the card a haunted mansion look.

Beautiful Mike. Didn't have time to read, getting ready for hurricane Matthew. Lots of folks in our complex are staying. Two maintenance people live in our building. So I think we'll be OK. We are fairly tight community. So say a prayer and I'll be in touch when I can. Hugs, Jess
PS. We are in north chas'n. A good ways from the water, or I would never have stayed. 😓

Love this Mike! Great job with the challenge colors. When I chose these colors I had Halloween in mind but alas I always end up with leaves this time of year. Go figure. Thank you so much for playing with us this week.

Great card Mike! Love the little fence and the other little goodies, that scary house is fab! Take good care...no more wrestling with the cans and opener! You are like me, my uncle always said if you are going to be a bear, be a grizzly....now go and get one of those can openers that takes the rim off and cannot cut you!

Not bad for a Guy who mangled his hand/fingers BIG time.
I would pull out my inner drama diva and use a fainting couch...oh wait, I don't have a fainting couch. Okay the recliner!
Take care of that hand Mike.
Nine stitches and a tetanus shot are not a little accident.
I really like the card and I'm not big into Halloween cards. No I'm saying it to make you feel better....I really do like it.
