Stampin' UP! Spooky Fun and Ghoulish Grunge
It's Thursday and time for another Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week our Pal Amy Lazzell created a clean and simple sketch for us. I hope you'll join us and play. Visit the Pals Paper Arts site for directions on how to play.
Okay, I can't stand it any longer. I have to share a few Halloween sets from the new 2016 Holiday catalog. I don't know. Maybe it's me, but this new catalog is just chock full of fabulous sets. I especially like Ghoulish Grunge. I'm getting into a lot of texture these days, and this set sure fits the bill. Nothing like a little rotten cheese cloth to say Happy Halloween!
Step by Step Tips:
- I decided to turn the design 1 quarter turn so the three dots were in the lower right corner.
- I started with Perfect Plum card stock cut 4“ x 5 1/4” The gauze image was stamped multiple times on the top two thirds to create some texture. Along the bottom I stamped the grass from Thoughtful Branches. (There I go using that set again!) It gives a place for the pumpkins to sit and the spider to land! Both images were stamped using Basic Gray Archival Ink.
- Next I used the same Basic Gray Archival Ink to stamp the Hardwood background stamp on Smoky Slate card stock. I love this stamp. You can leave it as is or cut it up to create planks.
- Then I took a 1 1/2“ strip of Whisper White card stock and stamped the brick image from Ghoulish Grunge multiple times.
- I inked up the drippy image with Pear Pizzazz Classic ink and stamped it over the brick, and immediately dusted it with clear embossing powder.
- Next I rolled the strip with Smoky Slate using our new Sponge Brayers. I love these things! I've already used them more than I ever used my old rubber brayer. You have a lot more control with these to give you beautiful even shaded color. Rub off the excess ink from the goop and you're good to go.
- The sentiment was stamped from the Spooky Fun stamp set using our new Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. The pumpkins, bats, and spider are from the same set. Love it! and so Simple!
Wow! The textures and colors of the brick walls are superb! Great card!

Adorable, Mike! I love how those little orange pumpkins just "pop"! I also love how you used several of the images from Ghoulish Grunge...one of my favorite sets from the Holiday catalog! Thanks for playing with the Sketch Team this week!

I'm with you on the texture lately. Me too! Must be our age (since we are both born in the same year). I adore Halloween and the Fall colors. I haven't purchased this set yet, but it's on my list. I was thinking of other things to use it for. Your card is outstanding! Love the purple background and the ooze down the wall is great! Love it! Thanks for sharing.
