Stampin' UP! Four Feathers and Amazing Birthday
It's the third Monday of the month and that means it's time for the Stamp Review Crew. We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators focused on sharing a ton of ideas featuring a single stamp set. This week it's a set called Four Feathers. You have likely come from Linda Callahan's blog on your way through this amazing hop. If you get lost, simply click on the banner for a list of participants and get back on track.
As you may know, when I do a stamp set hop, I try to limit my creation totally to the featured stamp set. But there's just so much you can do with feathers! So I had to expand my reach to a sentiment set and a texturing set. As you may also know I rely frequently on inspiration pieces. This week's card is a perfect example with a wall hanging from the magazine Cowboys and Indians. I think the feathers turned out amazing and there are tips below to help you create ones every bit as nice as mine!
Step by Step Tips:
- Let's start from the background and work our way forward. The look of turquoise was created by stamping Lost Lagoon Classic Ink on Lost Lagoon card stock using the small flecks from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I stamped and then stamped again before I re-inked. I did the same technique applying Whisper White Classic Ink. Instant Turquoise! It's matted on Cajun Craze card stock.
I stamped the feather image on Whisper White, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand card stock using Smoky Slate Classic Ink. Then using my Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker, I filled in the spine of the feather. Next I lightly sponged Crumb Cake Classic Ink on two thirds of the feather, Then I lightly sponged Soft Suede on one third of the feather. I finished the look by using a piece of card stock that I had die cut one of the feathers from as a stencil. I turned it over and positioned it so only the tip of the feather was showing and sponged Early Espresso on the tip. Finally I die cut it out using the Feathers Framelits Die. The Whisper White feathers are placed prominently at the top and one each on the two side clusters. There are four Sahara Sand feathers positioned in the back and six Very Vanilla feathers positioned evenly on both sides and in the clusters. This slight difference in the colors create depth making the feathers appear more 3D.
- The center sentiment from the Amazing Birthday set was stamped twice - once using Cajun Craze Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock and punched using the 3/4“ Circle Punch. And once using VersaMark® and Silver Stampin' Emboss powder on Lost Lagoon card stock and punched out using the 1” Circle Punch. The component is then matted on a circle of Silver Foil card stock and accented with Cajun Craze Candy Dots. Simple!
Next stop on the Hop is Kerry Willard Bray where she'll wow you with her beautiful design skills.

I totally missed your card. It looked so realistic it blended with the photo of the feathers. Thanks so much for your great directions of creating the feathers. Even the center piece with the greeting was more involved than I realized, but it made a splash too. AND the turquoise background is FABULOUS!. Such an unusual card. You were really thinking out of the box on this one. Awesome.

Fabulous! Love the 3-D effect you created by using different shades of feathers and the depth you achieved by only using 2 ink colors to create the turquoise. Love it my friend.
