Stampin' Up! Window Frames Collection and
Sketched Birthday
I have a core group of friends. There's really only six of us. Of course I have other friends, but thIs group is like family to us. We do so much together. My friend Paul is an amazing man with a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. We all love him so much. Tuesday night we celebrated Paul's 79th birthday! We all went out for dinner where he donned the traditional King's Crown
and scepter for a photo op! Years ago Jody (second from the left) bought this cardboard crown for 23 cents at a party store to celebrate my partner Rick's birthday. We've used it for every one of all of our birthdays ever since. Tuesday night was Paul's turn to wear it. And do you want to know something else amazing? Every one of these guys has attended one of my card making classes! (Except for my partner! How does that work?) So of course I had to create an amazing card for this amazing man. I hope you all like it!
Step by Step Tips:
- Each of yhe balloons was stamped on a piece of 3/4“ x 2 1/2” Whisper White card stock and then matted in the same color as the ink.
- “Celebrate” was created mixing equal amounts of Gold Stampin' Emboss powder and Gold Glitter. When you emboss tis, really keep the Heat Tool moving and a bit farther away than you normally would. The glitter is plastic and it loses its glitter very quickly if it melts.
- To create the medallion I used the 4th smallest square of the Squares Collection Framelits and matted it with the 3rd largest Window Frame Framelit. The numbers were cut using a retired Big Shot Die, but I think the Perfect Print Numbers would work! Simple!
Great card you created for Paul. Happy Birthday wishes to him!
Mike, we want to see a photo of you wearing the crown!!

Belated birthday wishes to Paul! Mike you are a genius when it comes to crating great cards...especially the male versions. And to have the crown last so long and continue passing it from year to year...what a great tradition for you all to continue! Now you had better work harder at getting your partner to attend at least one class...maybe with the other guys it will be easier!

Mike what a great card for a great friend! He sure doesn't look his age either! must be staying young keeping active and busy... Great to have a "core" group of friends.. I know I do. We go to golf weekends, South Beach, Girls get-a-ways...and even mystery trips! So much fun. Love the story and the crown is the best! Hugs.

Love the whole GIG! Hubby is 77. He is in as good shape as Paul...I'd say the 70's are the new 50's. Maybe 40's....uhmmm, maybe...stop it Terry
The card is fantastic. Will work for any age. Male, female, kids.

Happy Birthday Paul! Looks like it was a wonderful celebration. And what a great card, Mike. In a word...WOW!The whole thing shimmers and shines, just like all of your smiles. What a terrific idea, passing the crown and scepter to each in turn. Who would have thought a .79cent toy would start such a special tradition.
Thanks for sharing the card and the celebration too. Hugs, Jess
