Stampin' Up! Four Feathers and Apothecary Art
It's Sunday once more and that means it's the Paper Players weekly challenge. This week it's a color challenge from Anne Marie. And what a palette it is! Gorgeous fall colors to play with. This week I decided to choose a stamp set that hasn't been seen in a while. I think as we look with excited anticipation for new stamp sets, we forget about all the stamp sets that were once our sweetheart, but got placed in the land of misfit stamps. Apothecary Art is one of those stamps sets. It has a matching Framelits set that cuts out the images for us and has such an heirloom feel. It's perfect for this heirloom palette.
- I really love my Aqua Painter (103954). With just a little practice you can create all shades of any given color. And I had no problem using regular Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650) as my base. Just use your water in moderation. The sentiment is from the Holiday Invitation set (135074) stamped in Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink (133642. This set is really a lot more versatile than you would think! Stay tuned for a few Christmas cards with it.
- Don't you love the texture the Woodgrain Embossing Folder creates On the Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock (131296)? I was so surprised when, after hunting and hunting for something to use as a background, the pairing of the Apothecary Art image and the thick texture of the wood was perfect!
- The cherry on the sundae for me was the cluster of feathers with the Cajun Craze button from the Regals Collection Button Assortment (130029). I grabbed some scrap Burlap Ribbon (132140) and pulled it apart for individual threads. Then using an upholstery needle, I just threaded 4 strands through the button holes and tied a knot! Attach it with a glue dot! Simple!
Hello Mike! How fun that you combined these two stamp sets! I never would have thought to but they look great together! Your coloring is beautiful and the colors really pop off the textured background. Awesome card! :)

That is so true Mike! I don't own this stamp, but I haven't seen it in blogland for some time either. Looks great paired with the feathers too.

Mike, I love how you blended these stamp sets together, I wouldn't have thought of putting them together, but they work beautifully. I love them against the woodgrain embossed background, too.
Hugs

Apothecary Arts has not been filed in the land of misfit stamps for me, but one I have never had the pleasure to own. You've colored it just beautifully Mike, and the flourish of feathers makes your card even more beautiful. Love.

I agree 100% about the stamps you just have to have....and then they get forgotten! I don't think I have EVER inked up this image from this set, because coloring in all those roses is too intimidating! BUT....yours is just gorgeous! Good job!

Woodgrain and a beautiful wreath, looks like it came off my friend Rob's front door! He is Native American. He'd love this. I've been eyeing the feathers bundle to use for him.
Beautiful!

You are so right. I have Apothecary Art and the Labels Framelits, and haven't used them in quite a while. I haven't used my aqua painter for a really long time either, so maybe, with your inspiration, I will also get that out to try again. Do you use it with color in the lid of your stamp pad? The buzz around the new goodies in the annual catalog, and then a few months later with the holiday catalog makes it easy to forget our "old" favorites. Thanks for reminding all of us to get out some old favorites again to have fun with!
