Stampin' Up! Flamingo Lingo & Sassy Salutations
It's time for the Paper Players weekly challenge. This week is a CAS challenge with a child's theme. Honestly, I totally missed the fact that it was a child's BIRTHDAY, and did a get well. So apologies for that!
Elizabeth, my partner Rick's neice's 11 year old daughter, was just diagnosed with Leukemia. She is currently resident at the Ronald McDonald House in Memphis, TN. So I thought this was the perfect time to promote Flamingo Lingo. It would work for either birthday or get well! It's Stampin' Up!'s 2014-15 Ronald McDonald House stamp set found inside the back inside cover of the 2014-15 Annual Catalog. $3 of each stamp set sold goes to RMHC Together we can make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
- To line the flamingos up so perfectly, you have to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig! It is an amzing tool which truly does not get its due. I created a post it note mask of the front half of the flamingo. I made a light pencil mark where the right edge of the stamp was on the bottom edge of the paper. Then I made five pencil marks 5/8" apart from that first pencil mark and lined the edge of my SAMJ with each of the marks when I stamped the different colors, moving left to right. Of course I masked the previous stamped image each time.
- The Stampin' Write markers work great to apply controlled color on the sentiment stamp. A quick huff before you stamp ensures enough moisture to get a great image. Then just punch it out with the Oval Punch and mount it on the Scallop Oval Punch.
- The ribbon I used on this project is no longer available, however the 1/4" Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon will work perfectly. Simple!

Oh Mike, this is fabulous - love the colors and the flamingos...doesn't make any difference that the original sketch was for a birthday, I think that under your circumstances, or her's....that this is perfect! Hoping and praying for her recovery! Best to your partner's family!

Mike, I'm always a fan of all rainbow colors on a card, so I was so delighted to see your rainbow of flamingos! I did wonder why the sentiment is "Feel Better", so I headed over here. This is just heartbreaking...but your card will surely comfort her and her family.

Mike those rainbow flamingos are guaranteed to cheer, whether birthday or get well wishes are in order! Love the blended rainbow sentiment and this card is a fantastic example of how the stamp-a-ma-jig really comes into its own - I wouldn't be without mine! I hope Elizabeth loves her card and I wish her well.

Oh my gosh, Y'all must be scared stiff! Tell the sweet child I have put her on my prayer list. And if you don't mind, EmIl me her first name. So I can put a name to her prayer. Give Rick a hug from me. I'll pray for all of you. Beautiful card. Oddly enougf, yesterday, I was thinking about not knowing anyone who has used RMH Charities, and being glad that was the case! And 24 hrs later... well here we are. Big squishy hugs, Jess

When it is so close to home, the set from SU, for RMHC means more than ever. We have had friends use the RMHC in Toronto and Hamilton. It is such a wonderful, uplifting experience for those who stay. They become like family.
God Bless Elizabeth and her family.
Love the card Mike. As time goes on I have become a fan of the SAMJ. I was petrified of it at first!! What a chicken eh? Apologies to chickens everywhere.
