Stampin' Up! Blended Bloom & Four You
It's Sunday and time for the Paper Players Weekly Challenge. This week it's a “Cute As A Button” challenge - use one or more buttons on your project. Since I don't have a lot of buttons, or use them frequently in my projects, this was a REAL challenge. During Convention a saw a Main Stage Presentation Theatre by Lydia Fiedler on different techniques you could do with the Blended Bloom stamp and a Project Life Journaling Pen. Had to try it! If you look REALLY hard, you'll find the button!
- The technique is very simple, but a little time consuming. However the results are so dramatic, that I'm sure I'll do it again with different colors. Use the small tip of a Stampin' Write marker starting at the base of the petal or the edge of the petal and flick the marker to create a feathered look. Got it? Now do it another 8 million times! LOL
- After you've done the petals, go back and darken the petal edges to create contrast with the petals below. This step really makes the flower come alive. It's all about contrast.
- The pearl in the center of the button is not colored. It is taking the color from the button below.
- To make the tag, I used the Tag Topper Scallop Punch. I cut a 1 1/4“ strip of Whisper White Card Stock and stamped Thank You in the middle. Then I centered it on the punch table and punched. I trimmed the end and then did the same thing with a 1 3/8” of Basic Gray Card Stock. The tag is mounted using Dimensionals.
Stunning card!

Wow Sid, your flower is amazing. I love the way you colored it using lines instead of blending. Very unique.

Fabulous technique on the Blended Bloom! The result is very striking. I did spy your yellow button and it makes the perfect center embellishment for your bloom.

Mike this card is AMAZING! I couldn't work out how you did it until I zoomed in - so clever and so effective. 8 million flicks sounds about right - but so worth it for the end result! I'm tempted to have a go when I can find a spare few hours :-)

My fave colour; my fave stamp (one of many);
love buttons...what more could I ask for?
Thank you.
Button story - our group of stamping friends seemed to be saving our buttons. We decided we had to start using them...our motto - you have to be button worthy to have a button on your card. Needless to say, any special occasions in our group has a card - VERY heavy with buttons. And other friends are so happy to receive a button laden card!! Although I have a sneaking suspicion that they wish we would use less.
