Stampin' Up! Sweetbriar Rose and Love & Sympathy
It's Sunday, and that means it's time for the Paper Players' Challenge. This week it's Tic Tac Toe Time brought to you by Nance Leedy! My choice was right down the middle. I love the color green and Stampin' Up! has so many wonderful shades to choose from. But this proved to be a challenge in every sense of the word, and I was DETERMINED to make it work! Let's just say this is nowhere even CLOSE to where I started. I think I attempted HalloweeN, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas before I settled on Sympathy.
- The coloring of this image is a combination of Blendabilities and Stampin' Write Markers. All of the shades of Old Olive in the Blendabilities set were too dark. So I used Pistachio Pudding (one of the In Color Markers for 2013-15) to color the centers of the flowers and used the Blendabilities markers to color the leaves and highlight the centers.
- I love the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I used it on almost every card I made when I first started making cards. But it needed to take a sabbatical! It's BAAAA-AACK!
- I haven't bought the Project Life by Stampin' Up! Corner Rounder yet. (Yes, there is SOMETHING left I haven't purchased yet!) So I just used my Envelope Punchboard to round the corners of my sentiment tag. Simple!
simply beatiful sympathy card Mike great choice of colors and the image, all in green...I never made a card with all in green but you did it so well...love this too

LOL, sometimes our creative processes just take detours, don't they? But your end result is simply lovely and I think we should all use green a lot more! Beautiful creation!

Great color job on this card Mike! Green is my favorite color too, so this one is a winner for me from the get go!

A beautiful card Mike. Those sweetbriar roses remind me of.... morning glories. Must be the way they are colored. I love them! I remember having morning glories on our cyclone fence near the sidewalk at my growing up house in Chicago. They're always so pretty and perky. This card is great...you did a beautiful job! TFS !

Eek! So sorry that the tic-tac-toe board wasn't more cooperative, Mike! But I bet you have a nice pile of stuff waiting to be re-created! Your end result is gorgeous. How elegant and serene for a sympathy card.

This card is so serene Mike, it makes the perfect sympathy card. I love how you made the colour green a feature of your card, offsetting it against the white for contrast.

That it is a really lovely sympathy card, Mike. Your coloring is fantastic, too.

Such a beautiful card, Mike! I love your use of green to color the flowers. They may be sweetbriars but with the green accents, they look like dogwood blossoms! Lovely job with the challenge!

Mike, this is a lovely Sympathy card, I actually needed two this week. I think they are the most difficult cards to create, I need to make some ahead, but never seem to make myself do that. Ok, I knew we had a lot in common, but finding out you love the polka dot embossing folder seals the deal! The coloring is gorgeous!!!! XX

I love the Sweetbriar rose stamp, and your card showcases it beautifully. I also like that S/U has started having so many single stamps, I just wish more of them were something other than flowers. I have been a "blog stalker" of yours for a while now, and love your style. Gorgeous card!

Sometimes our struggles turn out to be some of the prettiest cards. I love how you colored the Sweetbriar Rose stamp. Wonderful sympathy card!

Hi Mike, striking! What a lovely work of art. After reading your opener, I didn't know what to expect, I guess I was thinking more green. So when all that white came into view I was pleasantly surprised. (And I love green) what ever I expected, I was no where near this lovely creation. Lovely coloring. I love it.
