Putting It Together Tips:
- Here are two different techniques with the same card. The card on the left is as the stamp set was designed. And the card on the right is stepped up a notch.
- The card on the left is Basic Stamping 101:
- Stamp the lantern outline image three times to create the basic design
- Ink the sentiment and place it wherever there is enough room for it to fit.
- Ink the lantern image with the first color and space the color every third lantern. For more precise placement you could use a Stamp-a-ma-jig, but I felt "close" was great for this style of card.
- Repeat the above for the other two colors.
- The card on the right might fall under Stamping 201!
- Stamp the lantern outline image three times to create the basic design.
- Ink the sentiment and place it wherever there is enough room for it to fit.
- Take a scrap of card stock and punch a 3/4" hole in it. Use this as a stencil.
- Ink a sponge dauber with the first light color (Strawberry Slush, for example). Place the stencil over the first lantern and using a circular motion, color only the edge of the circle leaving the center white. Repeat this step for all light colors. This creates the illusion there is light on the lantern.
- Using the same stencil, place it over a lantern. Using one of the patterned stamps, ink with a dark color and stamp over the stencil. This creates the texture/pattern for the images.
It's time to get hopping, Nancy Smith is next and I'm sure you will enjoy the projects she has created for you! Happy hopping (AND Congratulations!) from the Stamp Review Crew!!
Hello! I really like this card. I had tried a simplified form of this card and it didn't "pop" like yours! I'd love the PDF of the folds to try it your way. Thank you.
