Stampin' Up! The Perfect Blend &
My Digital Studio 2
Several years ago I became friends with Michael Maler, owner of Espresso Cielo, a coffee shop in South Palm Springs. In fact I taught a card making class there two years ago to make Christmas cards. You can check out that post HERE. I have coffee there at least twice a week. When the 2013-14 Annual Catalog came out, I was thrilled to see The Perfect Blend stamp set. It IS "perfect" for the coffee shop.
My Challenge was how to get the logo in the center of the coffee band. Fot that I turned to My Digital Studio. I created the logo from a compilation of images I got off the web - with Espresso Cielo's permission of course. Next I sized it to fit on the band. Then I created the Marina Mist background and positioned the logo on the background. I created an entire sheet of these in My Digital Studio and printed them out on a piece of Whisper White card stock.
My next challenge was to position the Marina Mist logo on the coffee band. For that I turned to my old friend the Stamp-a-ma-jig. One trick I've shared with you is instead of using the clear sheet that comes with the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I use vellum card stock. I cut a piece the size of the wood block and create an image with StazOnĀ® ink. This piece of velum is stored with the stamp set to use again and again. I cut the sheet of logos into strips horizontally and stamped the image of the coffee band centering the logo.
Then all of the bands were cut out. I stamped the the coffee cup again on Whisper White card stock and cut those out.
Then all the bands were glued to the cups.
The cups were mounted using Dimentionals on Basic Black card stock matted on Marina Mist card stock. And then remounted on another piece of Basic Black on Marina Mist. The inside of the card had the sentiment "Coffee and friends are the perfect blend." and I created a pocket inside with the Word Window punch to insert am Espresso Cielo gift card.
Vellum - great idea! I still get enough wood mounted sets that I can see how perfect that idea is! Thanks for the great tip.

Great project Mike! You always give great directions, what ever the project. It would be so cool if your design sparked your friend to create something similar for his shop. And you'll have great cards for gifts for your coffee drinking friends. Good to see you.
I've been off line again for a while, but I will be able to check email every now and then. Hope all is well. Hugs, Jess

Awesome idea and well written directions-easy to follow what you did. Clever and Classy. Loved the idea of using MDS that way, too.

Awesome idea! Great job too! Your friend who owns the coffee shop will be so happy. He is a very lucky person to have a friend and loyal customer as you! Yes, how did your home fair with the fires? Haven't heard bad news so I am going to guess it is good news. Blessings, Cheryl

So very clever. I love the idea and he should sell them in his shop as gift certificates.
Hope you are safe at your retreat in the mountains.

omg, omg, omg!!! How awesome!!!
We have Tim Horton Coffee (millions of them)in Canada and, they have their own cups.
Hmmmm, going to have to find a friendly, small coffee shop and do their cups.
No really...I love this set because I'm a serious coffee drinker. Everybody (family and friends) know they're getting Timmy's cards for whatever...."insert evil laugh".

Hi Mike - I trust your new retreat is safe and sound.
When I saw this set in the catalog I thought about you and the time you had a stamp class there at the coffee shop. I so enjoyed that post. I thought, I bet Mike will come up with something cool for his favorite coffee shop like a gift card holder for them. You did and it is amazing! I think they would be proud to offer these to their customers! Great job as always!

Mike,
P.S. I went back and read your entry, again, and caught the vellum trick. And I looked more closely to see how you inserted the gift card. Thank you for both these super ideas!
