On Sunday I posted a tutorial on how to make ANY size envelope using our Simply Scored & Diagonal Plate.  You can view that tutorial HERE.  I had several compliments on the card I made the envelope for so I thought I'd show you the complete set.  I used Sprinkled Expressions from the Sale-a-bration Mini.  Its a great set with sentiments that could either be an addition to the front of the card or the sentiment inside.  Definitely a free set I'd recommend with your $50 purchase.

Putting It Together Tips:

• This stamp sets is perfect to create your own Designer Series Paper.  I usually would have made many more impressions but thought I'd keep it simple.   The main image makes a perfect background as well as a focal point.
• This card series is the perfect example to demonstrate that you don't need a complex design - or a new one for that matter - to create a great creation.  I used this design a few weeks ago.  You can view it HERE.  These are portrait.  The original was landscape.

Putting It Together Tips:

• What a great set of gift/all occasion cards this project makes.  The Petite Pocket die is perfect for a gift card and when you use DSP, it makes it really special as the inside of the envelope is lined with a coordinating pattern!  Sweet!
• Sponge Daubers are the perfect way to add some gentle texture to your creation.  When adding color with sponge daubers, always start off the project and add color in a swirling motion on to the project.  This will avoid heavy blotches of color that take away from the soft look you're trying to achieve.
• The picture does not do the ribbon that comes in the Everyday Enchatment Ribbon & Brad Pack justice.  The only way I can describe it is to say it's like colored gossamer!  Sparkling sheer color that adds a great touch to these detailed but simple creations.
• The envelope stickers were created by first stamping the image on Very Vanilla card stock.  Punch them out with the circle punch and apply some Dotto to the back.  Then affix them to a piece of waxed paper.  When you need to use them, just peel them off and apply them to the envelope!

Putting It Together Tips:

• I wanted this card to have some pop so of course as my neutral color for the POP in this color challenge I chose Basic Black.  Darn, I should have used pearls too!  ;-)
• Do you see the sentiment ”IT'S YOUR DAY" in the lower right?  I would have never have been able to position that if I didn't have my Stamp-a-ma-jig!  I love this tool.  It makes it a breeze to position just about anything.  In fact, I used it for Celebrate too!  Stay tuned and I'll SHOW you how!
• I love the Crimper to add subtle texture.  The Real Red Card Stock matting the sentiment is crimped vertically.  It's hard to see in the pic but it's there.  SNAIL is perfect to hold it in place.
• I wanted to give a sense of celebration with confetti so I used all the different pieces of the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to create that festive atmosphere.

Pals' Paper Arts Challenge 29 - Friends

Vintage Vogue and Sale-a-bration!

 

The sketch for this week's Pals' Challenge looked better to me landscape than it did portrait, so my interpretation of the sketch is a 90 degree turn to the right!  With Mardi Gras coming up on February, I thought I'd use Mardi Gras colors to accent my Friends card.  AND embossing - both heat and dry - take over!

Putting It Together Tips:

• I really love the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  It has a  matching Scallop Trip Corner Punch (118870) available in the Occasions Mini.  If you love them too, get them while you can, as the Sale-a-bration Mini expires March 31, and the Occasions Mini expires April 30, 2010.
• To get the Rich Razzleberry Card stock and the Glorious Green Card Stock impressions to match, I cut 1 each of the two colors in 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" size.  One at a time I positioned them in the Impressions Folder making sure they were in the exact same place and ran them through the Big Shot.  Matching the patterns, I laid one sheet on top of the other and cut the two cuts on my paper cutter.  Saving the two ends of the Glorious Green and the middle of the Rich Razzleberry, I matched the remaining three pieces and secured them with Snail.
• Super Tip: Condition all your paper using the Embossing Buddy.  It removes any static electricity or oil from the paper so the embossing powder only attaches where you want it to!  The letter "F" was first imprinted with VersaMark on Crushed Curry and heat embossed using Gold Embossing powder, and then cut out using my Paper Snips.  A second impression was make on Basic Black card stock, but only the word Friends was covered with the embossing powder and heat set.  The letter was attached using Dimensionals.

Mojo 118 - You're Never More Than a Thought Away

As the year comes to a close, this card is dedicated to all my friends who have followed my blog, subscribed to my updates, and simply have supported me in all my endeavors.  Thank you so much for all your support, encouraging words, and kind comments.  Have a wonderful holiday and a healthy and prosperous New Year!  

 

Lots of firsts in this card for me.  The Friend graphic is from our upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog premeiring January 4, 2010.  This is so exciting as it is from a new clear mount set - I (heart) Hearts.  I had mixed feelings about these when they were announced, but I AM SOLD after using them.  Especially since you can see exactly where you're placing the image with the new label system.  Ask me more about these.  The same is true of the sentiment from the Whimsical Words set - also clear mount.  But this set is from our Sale-a-bration catalog also premiering January 5th, 2010.  Spend $50 and get this set free as well as other sets.  Finally I used my first button - EVER!  LOL  Enjoy!

Stampin' Steps:

1. To create the card face, cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Melon Mambo Textured card stock and mat it on a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of Basig Gray using SNAIL.
2. Cut a 1 3/4" x 3 7/8" piece of Whisper White card stock and mat it on a 2" x 4" piece of Basic Gray card stock using SNAIL.  Adhere this to a 2 1/2" x 4" piece of Brushed Silver card stock.  Imprint the sentiment in Basic Black on the left side of the Whisper White.  Cut a 1/4" x 1 3/4" piece of Melon Mambo and mat it on a 1/2" x 1 3/4" piece of Basic Gray using SNAIL.  Position on the right side of the Whisper White.  
3. Imprint the heart image on Whisper White using Melon Mambo Classic ink.  Trim to 1/16" and mat on a punched Basic Gray heart.  Attach using Stampin' Dimensionals.  
4. Punch a small hole at the top of the Melon Mambo/Basic Gray strip using a Paper Piercing Tool and position a 3/4" Basic Gray Corduroy Button in place.  Attach this assembly to the card created in step 1.  Attach to a 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock scored at the 4 1/4" position.  Fold.
