It's Sunday and that means it's time for the Paper Players weekly challenge. This week it's a color challenge and what a treat! We have FOUR colors to use! When it comes to color challenges, I guess you could say I'm a purist. I rarely use any other colors, even an accent color. Of course I don't consider Whisper White, Very Vanilla, or Basic Black to be a color!
- So often we look at the positive element of a die cut and only see value in that. But the Top Note die is perfect for framing by simply using the negative "scrap" of the die cut. Just cut your paper 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and center it on the die. Use the actual die cut for another project.
- I used a sponge dauber to add color to the Hard Wood background stamp using Hello Honey. It creates kind of a knotty pine effect. To create the individual board effect. I masked off the edge of the board I was coloring and only shaded that edge. Had the color challenge allowed another neutral color, I might have added highlighting in Soft Suede to create contrast, but as I said, I'm a purist!
- The rose was stamped first on Blushing Bride card stock using Blushing Bride ink. The shading stamp was inked with Calypso Coral. The stippled blossom rose center was stamped with Calypso Coral on Hello Honet card stock and cut out. The entire flower was also hand cut.
- The right blosson cluster was die cut using Flower Fair and the Builder Bird Punch. The flowers were shaded using Calypso Coral Blendabilites and the leaves were cut out of Hello Honey card stock and textured with Basic Gray ink using the leaf stamp from the Stippled Blossoms set. Simple!
