Stampin' Up! Punch Bunch & Sunny Garden DSP
This week's challenge revolves around a sketch. There was a lot going on in this sketch and that's always a challenge. The multiple layers tend to dictate subdued or no pattern paper to avoid conflicts that create a “too busy” look. Yet, you also want to have that pop of color. My pop of color was Poppy Parade. Recognize the stamp set? Of course you don't. That's because it's from the upcoming Sale-a-bration Mini Catalog. But with Stampin-Style you get t double dip. Putting It Together Tips:
- I wanted the punched out sentiment to pop off the page, so I, of course, used Stampin' Dimensionals. But I also matted the image with a punch out of Poppy Parade. It provides more of a frame for the image. You might also use Cherry Cobbler if you want that added dimension.
- I'm big on scant matting. That is, matting with only a sixteenth inch border. That's accomplished by cutting your mat 1/8'' larger than the component being matted. It creates that fine line that can be interpreted as the line creating the design. It allows you to use light colors for your primary image and dark, contrasting colors for the mat.
- Always consider ribbon as a wide component of the design, like the 1 1/4" striped series. It adds texture to the card and contributes to the design.

Purty!!! Love how you matted the sentiment - I never thought to try the scallop circle as a mat for itself. Clever man!

Mike, Love your card. It's inspired me to try and do something I haven't CASEd. It's about time for me to try something on my own.
